Improper Alloy Mixture Mint Error

Improper allow mixture mint error
Improper alloy mixture is when two or more alloys that make up the coil stock that planchets are punched out of do not properly mix and this creates a “wood” grain effect of the metal. Coins that display this wood grain appearance are affectionately called “Woodies”.

Values on these tend be in the $10 range for cents and climb as the denomination increases but other factors can come into play on value and that is the grade assigned, date and mint and eye appeal.
