2021 Type 1 Silver Eagles

#1 Unread post by CharlesJ113b »

Can anyone shed some light on the 2021 Type 1 UNCIRCULATED/BURNISHED Silver Eagles. I have been purchasing them from the US Mint since 1986 and I know that last year with the silver shortage combined with the anniversary Morgan and Peace Dollars and the reverse design change to the Silver Eagles things got really busy. I was thinking they had cancelled my subscription due to the sheer volume and just not told me. I did receive both type 1 & 2 proofs and the type 2 uncirculated. So I go to eBay to find a type 1 in the original US Mint packaging, to include COA, but they are not there! I can find all of the type 2's I want but no type 1. There are graded MS70 type 1's from all of the grading companies. I understand someone would say just buy one of those and move on.......but I can't! I have OCD (LOL). I spent 25 years in The United States Marine Corps and I find it hard to wrap my brain housing group around a failure on my part of complete a mission! No but seriously if anyone out there can share their knowledge as to why they are nowhere to be found I sure would appreciate the intel. Thank ahead of time.....Charles

To the best of my knowledge, they only produced the 2021 Proof (W). They then produced the type 2, these are the dates they were mailed. 7/20/21 Proof Type 2 W, 8/12/21, Proof Type 2 S, Unc. Type 2 9/9/21.
They did produce the Type 1and type 2 Bullion. I have a roll of Eagle Bullion Coins right in front of me (I purchased it from Daniel) and cannot remember if they were Type 1 or 2.

Now for Daniels unpaid and unsolicited promotion. If you are in the market for a coin, I suggest you check out Daniels website Portsmouth Coin & Currency. I can promise you he'll do you right.
