1943P nickel Cud
Sorry to all, I am trying my first post and have had difficulty getting the attachments (lmages) to upload. The coin in question is a 1943P nickel that appears to have a cud on the main steps of the building. The word Monticello seems to be doubled. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Re: 1943P nickel Cud
I do not see a cud on this coin. A cud is a rim-to-rim die break and do not look like this. this is just a weakly struck example which do not have full steps.

Re: 1943P nickel Cud
Correct in that this is not a cud, b/c cuds are a totally different thing.
It is also not a weak strike though.
Missing steps is not a sign of a weak strike on the coin overall. There is a whole science behind why nickels were not full steps back then and it has to do with hardness of the metals and the high points of the design.

As everyone has said, not a Cud. It may be of great help if you would go to this site and learn the terms that we use. Coin terms

Re: 1943P nickel Cud
Thanks to all, (Paul, JTCC,Earl42, and DSCoins) for clarification on what is actually a cud. If I were more knowledgeable I would have maybe titled the post as a die defect. I am still curious if anyone notices any doubling in the words Monticello and States. I appreciate your time and considerations.

Re: 1943P nickel Cud
Photos a bit too hard to see for me. But here is some help...
Here is a way to find immediate answers when finding something you suspect is a doubled die or RPM:
Please click the following link:
Immediate Answers - How to find your Doubled Die or RPM online
Note:
If you do not find your coin listed using this easy method, then you most likely have a damaged coin or other issues like (non collectable) machine doubling, die deterioration doubling, etc. (look these up at error-ref.com)
