I started collecting in 1961 when my dad got my little brother and I those blue penny albums. Still have them. I ran a photography studio for 15 years till the great recession hit. In short my wife and lost everything. Except my coin collection. I refused to sell it in order to lose it in the end. In 2006 I discovered bullion. In two years I built it up to almost equal my numismatics.
We moved from Florida to Evansville Indiana. What a shock. I felt I went back in time to the 80's. Rents were4 times less up here. Property values were way less also. Good thing I didn't sell my collection.
I sold most of my bullion at 42 bucks an ounce. Some at 46. My avg per ounce that I bought at was 15. We bought a house for cash. Yes, I had to replumb it, rewire it restore it. I did it all with silver. Even though our credit was shot to you know what. We owned a house free and clear. Now, in 12 years hear our house has tripled in value. As this Midwest economy kept steadily marching on.
My only problems are now I'm trying to get back into numismatics the hobby has gone skyhigh in prices. Not to mention the premium on bullion. Spot is 22.50 and an SAE sells for 45? Ay Yi Yi! Thanks Daniel for providing a haven for us original metalheads.
