1862 1C Indian AU or better?

#1 Unread post by geezer »

Trying to figure out if this coin is worth sending out to get slabbed, it appears to have terrific toning and field look great but not the Liberty so much. I am very concerned this coin was cleaned. Also on the reverse this some green growth which can be seen under mag, concerned PCGS will say environmental damage. Please take a look and give some thoughts. Worse case I can upgrade my book. Thanks

I don't mind saying the coin should be AU and potentially AT toning. I would like to see better images, but I would not recommend submitting. I recommend going to PCGS price guide and looking up values for the potential grade of this coin.

This is in really nice shape for a Civil War-era coin, I'd rather not grade it, but you can put it in a 2x2 (Or Album as you pointed out) & you can look at it without damaging the coin even more.
