2021 Kennedy half dollar "JAWS" Metal teeth

#1 Unread post by IlikeCOINS66 »

Good Afternoon, I am interested in a posting on Ebay 313826728782 JAWS 2021 Kennedy Half Dollar. Is it fake? Also, is this the "one must have" feeder error of a lifetime and a must have for machine error collectors?

I only have the picture from the listing.

Thank you, just to be clear. I collect 007 unique and strange items. I really guess I am asking do you think someone took a drill or altered the coin?

Is it possible that the feeder or punch out mechanism made these metal teeth marks in just the perfect place? What are the odds of this happening? Is it an everyday/common occurrence and a dime a dozen coin?

I noticed Goerge Washington quarters with Metal (crown) going for much more and it looks like metal stacked up. And there are a lot of those quarters' listings in eBay.

Don't buy this! You WILL get ripped off for sure!

And this is one of the reasons why I never go to Ebay for coins, I always try finding rare coins in Coin Rolls or in Circulation.

That looks like a hit from a reeded edge of another coin.

JTCC is correct, just a well placed hit by the reeded edge of another coin, purposeful or accidental, could be either.

It is important that if you are going to be purchasing numismatic items, you check here first....

Most of these scam sellers, don't have any clue as to what they're talking about…

"Feeder Finger Damage", first off, does not look like this,... secondly, you are not going to find it in the depths of a device!

I have been watching these people for many many years, scamming the undereducated out of so much money it makes me sick

Hi, IlikeCOINS66 ,

It's good that you posted this. I learned a lot just by reading along.
I wonder if this is why Daniel just posted a youtube video Don't Sell Mint Error Or Variety Coins Until You Know What They Are which includes this coin.

Between you and that video, this publicity probably saved someone hundreds of dollars.

Thanks!

This coin is a perfect candidate for the word Pareidolia.

You should see the email this seller sent me. He's purchased coins from me and watches my videos. It is a shame that a viewer of my videos learned this was okay to do, then tries to blame me for being mean and unfair. As if I am the problem. The only thing is I did quote their prices wrong on their other listings, so that makes me wrong. So my mistake now means more than their listing errors.

I find it funny and not so funny at the same time. Today, no one wants to take responsibility when they get caught doing something wrong', They just find it easier to say well so and so told me I was right before I posted it. NO! You're smart enough to know better yet don't give a darn. If we got caught doing something like this when I was growing up one of two things would happen.
1. No one would ever go to their store.
2. He would get some behind the barn learning.

He even relisted this coin, he changed his description but not one time does he mention this was created by a contact mark. I am completely floored by the audacity of this person. It's a coin with and odd edge reeding contact mark. If he would just make that claim, but he doesn't.

I just sent him a message. I stated that no matter how he lists this coin to sell it, he is still ripping someone off. I really wish they had a way for others (bidders) could see the comments on stuff like that

I personally don't care what someone sells or for how much as long as the item is described honestly, no hype and the buyer is informed that it's not a great investment just a piece of interest.

I can certainly understand the mindset of the buyer. Most collectors would want that 1 chance to get in on something early. However, I have been alive long enough to know that once something is kicking around in the regular public, there's probably not much there. What's the old saying...? "Buy the rumor, sell the news".?? Generally, these coins that auction for thousands of dollars (mostly at an auction house), were most probably purchased by the seller at a significant price back in the past. Sometimes they make money, sometimes they take a bath.

The Dunning-Kruger effect has shown itself here, good grief!

I've only seen a couple with that against me (It's Off Topic here on why), but it's only a matter of time before I get to your stage on dealing with those at least once or twice a day.
