1963 Jefferson Nickel Proof?
I found this Nickel in the High School Parking lot in Late-August, I thought that this was the nicest 1963 Jefferson Nickel until I noticed the Surface, it has a Mirror-Like Finish & will make a reflection if held by the edge at certain angles, I'm suspecting it may be a proof, but I'll let Y'all decide on this one . . .
I'm sorry that the Images can't be zoomed in, that's because I zoomed in as much as I can (Zoomed in 5.3x at one point while taking pictures) while taking the picture to show the entire details without cropping the edges of the coin.

I do not see a proof coin, proof coins are struck better and have full steps and much more reflectivity unless they're toned. As if, and even if this was an impaired proof, it has been circulated and as such would not have more value than a regular nickel you spend.

Thanks Daniel, I was not planning to sell this coin, I was going to keep it in my Collection since I've never seen a Nickel look like this before

Possible polishing? If done with fine enough grit in the polish it can leave a mirror surface.

I forgot to mention that the Rim is slightly thicker than the other Nickels, I'm not going to be able to see the Nickel until Tonight

The Middle Nickel is the Suspected Proof Nickel, note the slightly thicker rim

Re: 1963 Jefferson Nickel Proof?
As Daniel has said, this is not a proof nickel. Please take time to view pictures of proof nickels online. The full steps will definitely show b/c proof coins are struck twice. They were made/marketed with the mindset of showing what the most perfect coin could be made to look like.Iceresistance wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 7:20 am The Middle Nickel is the Suspected Proof Nickel, note the slightly thicker rim
