2017-P Roosevelt Dime Error Die Break? Cud?

#1 Unread post by silverstarter »

I am very new to the coin world, so I could really use some help here.

To me this doesn't look like damage or solder. Some kind of die break or cud? The anomaly flows seamlessly into the rest of the coin.

On the obverse you can clearly see some of the ear through whatever it is this error is? Almost a raised crater look to it. Volcano like even. It's just weird.

The reverse also seems to have a similar issue on the lower left.

I tried to get a couple angles of the obverse to show the error as clear as I could. Not the best photos, but I tried

So, what the heck am I looking at here?

The "volcano" description is ironic in this case🙂

Always been partial to Krakatoa. In the early 80s I remember reading there were 2-3 foot waves in the English channel from the explosion that was on the other side of the globe. I also remember reading it said the sound waves travelled around the globe three times. In that reading the volcanic explosion was said to be the loudest sound in recorded history,,,and it was heard 3000 miles away (think on that...~coast to coast America)!

But alas, in more modern times these ideas are not popular as fact anymore. However, the 120 foot high tidal wave is still suggested as fact!

Come to think of it, Krakatoa's Brother has been erupting over the last month or so.
