6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.

7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Regrets

#1 Unread post by Kaelik0 »

Ladies and gentlemen, in these times of confusion and chaos, I feel that I have to tell you I'm guilty of letting some things slide...quite literally, through my fingers. Such as this beautiful coin. I've lost it 😥 check it out plz, I called it the atheist dime. But I have no clue as to what happened to it☹ I had found it prior to the pandemic. Hoping it's still around here somewhere

I found a '72 DDO (the good one) in the early 70s. I put it on my dresser in a prominent place so I would remember o take it with me to show my grandfather. When I went to retrieve it, it was gone. My brother had taken it as well as any other change he could find in my room to spend on his trip to the local mall. I still talk to him though LOL!

When the 72s DDOs were first discovered, my grandfather and I were kicking ourselves. The coin shop, owner named Steve, we had visited just the day before had an advert in the paper saying all the rolls he had left were DDOs, and he was selling at 50.00 each. My grandfather and I, when visiting the shop, had gone there for two specific reasons:
1. So this little boy newbie could get the oldest coin I could afford.
2. To get a roll of new '72 pennies to put away.
The guy who in front of us was paying for a couple rolls. But we forgot the roll of pennies. Why? Steve and my grandfather were having a good time watching this little kid's enthusiasm and answering a myriad of questions concerning the 1879 Morgan Dollar I was going to buy. I remember we were there for quite awhile chatting (well - more me asking questions). So the pennies were forgotten! Almost a full roll of DDOs for .75. I often wonder what the guy who got two rolls of them for 1.50 felt like when they DDO was discovered/announced!
...But I still have the 1879 Morgan.
