Since i'm such a bad judgement for Crackouts i'd like to see what you think. Keep it in the box or Crack it out ?

Hey C, I personally do not think it will move off of the 63, having the CAC helps the base value.

However, here is a business tip. Lets take a look at your coin compared to another.

1886 P
GS MS 63 $50.00 No listing for CAC
GS MS 64 $60.00 With CAC $70.00
GS MS 65 $122.00 65 is what I consider the breakout point on this coin

1886 O
GS MS 62 $1250.00
GS MS 62 $2200.00 Another breakout point

Now on the 1886 O there are other lower breakout points, but I am just using these mid grades for illustration.

So if you think that you can jump two grades with your coin, then, depending on how much you have in it, well do it, but I kinda think you know the answer. If you look at the hat, it will tell you what you need to know. To get a 65 or higher, the frost on "common" date coins has to be consistent, especially the obverse, plus taking into consideration bag marks etc. Also I have heard it said that the reverse is only 1/3 of the grade, so if this is true, and I think it is, it is something to add to the "Financial Equation".

Too many times folks talk in generalities, for example: "the old PCGS holders are undergraded" and everyone thinks they can buy a coin in an old PCGS holder, crack it out and become a millionaire over night. But there is an old adage, "buy the coin and not the holder".

C, although I never saw the movie "The Edge", I believe in the saying "What one man can do, another can do", obviously this has its limitations, but in general it is pretty accurate. It's not Alchemy, Nuclear Physics, or Nucler. You can learn it, and you don't need to look at 8 gazillion coins to be accurate in your assessment.

Hey C, get one copy of the "greysheet", it is cheap enough, then look at the comps on MSCT, it gives you a base guide, I was semi chastised for how I use it, but, you have to have some kind of baseline, I use its comps for buying and selling, look for "arbitrage" in the comps between the different prices on different platforms.

I have a couple of outlets I buy raw coins from, I do not buy individual coins but hefty "size". One source allows me to "pick and buy" what both sides consider the best Barbers, Seated, and Walker halves. At times I leave them tapped out, the more I buy, the more I save, volume is the key.

And no I am not worried about giving away the "secrets", buy low sell high, is the bottom line, and unless you are Heritage, don't expect to get rich.
