1982-D Sm. Date, zinc; Mintmark issues

1982-D Sm. date, zinc. This looks like it could be an RPM, but I'm not able to locate the variety. Is it just a huge plating blister?

The only RPM variety I could find for the '82-D was RPM-001 - which doesn't look like yours to me, IMHO. Yours is south of the MM; the reference RPM shows the RPM to the north. Die deterioration or PMD, perhaps? I will defer to the real experts, hopefully they will be chiming in soon.

Here's a link to the RPM I found: http://www.varietyvista.com/02b%20LC%20 ... RPM001.htm

Cheers.

I believe that is a well placed plating bubble due to its ragged look. Not an RPM.

This was a plating blister than burst and debris filled the cavity.
