Blank Washington Quarter Planchet ?

#1 Unread post by Justapiece »

Hi Daniel so while I was coin roll hunting quarters I came across this Blank planchet ? the weight on it is 5.41 grams . do you think this is a real blank planchet or just a slug ? the blank is the same diameter and thickness as a regular quarter. Do these sometimes make it out to the public in circulation .

.... I hugeeyes a 'circular milling mark' in the center of the 1st image

:eureka:
can you detect any sort of "rim", as if this blank was sent through an upsetting mill ?

Hi Paul I found this in a roll of quarters that I got from the bank , coin roll hunting. Does this have any value and is it a blank planchet ?

Would this be something that I would need to send to you for inspection, and how do we determine this ?

Have you checked its magnetism?

...... Personally, I don't think that this is actually a quarter blank or planchet, but can you take a couple snaps, from different angles, of the raised center in your 1st image you posted ??

I haven't checked its magnetism and yes I can take some more images of the raised center. I will do this later when I get home, yes I am one of those that have to be at work. Thank you Paul I will post this later on this evening.

appears to be a plug that you knock out of an electrical box. perhaps even galvanized. just my opinion.

It has nothing to do with a plug out of a electrical box, completely different metal and different diameter and weight , not even close.
