1993 Lincoln penny found with possible MS Grade?

#1 Unread post by RonaldDeSombre »

Found with much older coins I rolled in, I’m guessing, 1993. Like most newbies I think it’s a high enough grade to have slabbed. Anyone able to help me guess at an approximate grade? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. : )

Looks like a nice coin but can't grade MS grades and give an exact grade based on images. Grading coins is about turning the coin in all directions and looking for contact marks and even at that there's no guarantee it will grade out.

Thank you. I’ve been separating out any coins I want to have slabbed. That’s the technique I use to see contact marks. This coin has one very small speck of carbon on both sides and no contact marks I can see. I stopped after looking close and put it in a flip right away. These pics are shot through the plastic. Thanks again.

:eureka:
if you search the different TPG websites for what's called a "population count", you will be able to find, for each specific date in mint mark, the number of "coins graded" for each grade.
