AACGS 1999-S Proof quarters (My Dad didn't know about this company)

#1 Unread post by Hermes »

I looked up this company when I saw what my dad was showing me. All of them are S and it's graded as a 69. When I looked it up, I saw the CoinHELPu link about the company. But I didn't have the heart to tell my dad. But I told him to call me first before making any decisions pertaining to coins and tenders. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Greetings, the best information on this company is most likely what you have already checked out. https://coinauctionshelp.com/AACGS.html
Daniel has been a great asset to the coin community for his in depth research and flow of that information to us collectors.
Well I would have to say its something your father likes to have and will be up to you to reveal the Info on that or just leave well enough alone. ;)

Amazingly, it doesn't say if they are silver or clad.

These were likely broken out of a US Mint set and put directly into this holder. So, the grade is probably still high, but cannot really determine from these photos.
Sold raw, the coins would fetch about $1 each for clad and about $12 each for silver.

As to telling Dad, if he's buying them to give to you, let it go. He's having fun doing something he believes is good for you. My mom used to do the same thing. Coin collecting was too complicated for her and buying these sets gave her joy. Funny thing is, I still have several of them.

Smart...too many people are taken for too much money by companies seeking to take advantage of people. For example, I have had to tell my dad never to buy a coin advertised i places like Country magazine. While I like the magazine, these adverts, IMO, are a potential slap in the face to the elderly people who subscribe to the magazine.
