1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). 💰What is my coin worth? A Step-by-Step Tutorial.💵
Members: this is a sticky so you can find it easily and use it as a link to help people learn how to find the value of their own coins
Daniel's forum has the goal of teaching people about the hobby. A big part of the hobby is knowing how to find the value of your own coins.
It would be impossible for the members of this forum to tell everyone what each of their coins is worth.
In keeping with Daniel's goal for this forum: Teaching people about the coin collecting hobby, this post is a step-by-step tutorial of how YOU can find the value of YOUR coin.
We will use the following Buffalo Nickel as an example coin.
What is the following buffalo nickel worth?
Steps 1 & 2 Go to the website shown below then scroll down to find the nickels grading link. You can find/click on this link at the end of this post after all of the graphics.
Step 3: Now you are on the Nickels grading page, so find the Buffalo nickel link and click it:
Step 4: Now scroll down through the list of pictures until you find one that best looks to have the same amount of original design details still showing that your coin has. Read the graphic for how to do this.
Step 5 & 6: Finding the grade of our example buffalo nickel, then finding the value:
You now have an approximate grade for your coin.
To find what it is worth, as the last graphic says, go to ebay.com and search SOLD auctions to find non-slabbed coins of the same date, mint mark, and grade range as yours. Congratulations...you now know have an idea what coins of the same kind are selling for.
Click on the following to go to the website shown above to start finding the grade of your coin:
https://coinauctionshelp.com/coin-gradi ... ng-guides/
If you want to keep these instructions handy when trying to find your coin's value, then right click the above link and choose "open in new window," or "open in new tab." If you use a new window, you can resize it to allow both windows to show on your computer screen. If you use the tab option, you can click back and forth between this page and the one you loaded in the new tab (the new tab should be showing at the very top of your browser window. If you do not see it, then use a search engine to find out how to use tabs with your specific browser (you will wonder how you ever got along without them!).

I would even take it a step further and suggest signing up for Heritage's web site - HA.com. One of the features there is a free way to enter and catalogue your own coins under the heading, "My Colleciton -> Coins. Then you can set up your own lists as you like. You can record your own purchase price, date of purchase, and other pertinent notes. And it updates the current value automatically too.

Not sure why. I just clicked on the link above and it worked fine.
IN fact, you are on the site b/c you are on this forum which is also accessed by the same site.
Try this:
Type "coinauctionshelp.com" in your browser and hit return.
This is Daniel's website main page (this forum is a linked page at that location).
Look for the words: "Coin Photo Grading" and click on that.
You will then be at where you want to be.

To go one step further, I advise signing up for Heritage's website, HA.com. There is a free way to enter and catalogue your own coins under the category "My Collection -> Coins" under one of the features. Then you can create your own lists anyway you want. You can jot down your own purchase price, the date you made the transaction, and other important details. Furthermore, it immediately refreshes the current value.
