1955 lincoln cent foreign planchet
Hi, I came across this 1955 wheat penny while trying to fill an album and it has me a little baffled. I believe it is on a foreign planchet but hoping someone here can help me out. It is same diameter as normal penny, however, instead of the normal smooth round edge, it has multiple smooth edges(~12 but hard to count). It weighs 3.24 grams, any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Are You sure that the scale is calibrated? It appears that someone got creative and randomly cut sections of metal from the coin.
However, the coin should weigh less than 3.11 grams. Not more.

I double checked my scale 3 times to be sure, that was my initial thought as well because I can't find a planchet that matches but if it was hammered I figured it would smash in and if it was grinded or cut, like you said, it should have lost weight rather than gain.

Take a hammer, put the coin onto a small anvil (or other solid metal surface), tap the rim making a dent, rotate, repeat.
When you can think of a way to use tools to make an odd coin look like it does, then someone beat you (and the coin) to it.

Thanks again for the replies, I agree with pmd for sure. I assume probably grinder or somehow it was cut, which is why the weight at 3.24g had me curious to start, just wish I could have came across it before someone decided to destroy it so I could have seen what it weighed before.
