2011 D Nickel, error or damage?

#1 Unread post by RokkiMid »

Not sure if this would be an error or damage. It even has the rusted color on the rim edge of the coin.

Post Mint Damage. Looks like it spent time in the ground.

Yep just surface corrosion from spending time underground. It’s common for Copper-Nickel coins to turn a copper like chocolate colour when exposed to soil. Also there may be a small possibility it was lost when it was released back then hence the ring of death.

Very few newer vehicles these days have dedicated places to put coins unless the vehicle is several years old or older. So change now resides in the cup holder gathering dust and the occasional spilled coffee and soft drinks.

Haha…I’m always getting on my husband for that! He loves to collect (and damage) coins in his cup holder 😂😂
