I don't know. I mean, ebay and even Kellyco.com might be better options. I do a lot of research on any coin related topics and metal detectors are one of my fav's. You can buy a good model from any MD company and do well in price and ability, so it's about choosing the how many additional bells and whistles you can afford. The ACE is a good detector but once you decide on the MD you want it's easier to find a good value.

I'm in for a New Detector in 20 years !! I'm looking at the Minelab Vanquish and I recommend buying from your local dealer . Why ? There's always gonna be questions/little problems . Besides when your in a bind, whose gonna be there to borrow a detector if your machine needs repair or you need a replacement pinpointer or other accessory ? Your LOCAL dealer .JMHO . Peace. Sal

I looked after myself a Bounty Hunter metal detector, here https://homemakerguide.com/best-metal-d ... for-beach/ there is a description of it. I just don't know how sensitive he really is and what will be found.

When I was able to use a metal detector I started with a bounty Hunter. Is a decent basic unit. Takes a bit to dial in but found plenty of silver (and nails and old can pull tabs). I found dimes 6-8” and quarters up to 10” deep which is surprising. I upgraded to a minelab exterra 705 which worked ALOT better because you could set it to ignore iron. But huge price jump.
If you go with bounty Hunter go to Hobby Lobby. They regularly have a 20-40% off coupon for anything not on sale. Even now regular retail is less than Amazon.
Also I think all units have a Jack to use headphones which you will want. Helps to hear certain tones (which you’ll learn what tones are associated with certain metals) as well as if in public to keep the annoyance to others to a minimum. Just my .02

Thanks for the recommendations! You told me really very interesting and useful information. You need to study the issue in more detail, and then buy a metal detector.

My 75 dollar bounty hunter works good. I dug up an old .75 Musket ball, just off The Bendadict Arnold trail, half a mile from the old Emery house, where Arnold camped with 1500 or so men, .The ball has the whiteish draby color, and is rough with bumps now, but it indeed was a brown bess type of ammo

I have one of the whites Quantums, had it for years. Great detector, think I paid $600 or $700 for it. Have found many coins with it & thing that were lost. One thing I have found over the years, they work even better after rain, it appears that the signal transfers better. I've found coins 10-12 inches down with mine.
