1969-D Penny DDR

#1 Unread post by JordonS427 »

Ok so I've been studying up on coins and errors like crazy and taking the time to look at every coin just to get familiar with different plating issues and many other things. I was looking at this 1969-D Penny and it looks to me like doubling. Still not 100% sure on how to identify them for sure. I have checked all the sites that Daniel recommends in his videos but can't find anything about it.

I have many more pictures of all the areas that show this but I've just selected a couple to post.

Am I wrong and this is just die deterioration or is it a double die? Any help or comments greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Only one "Doubled Die" error exists for this year and mint mark and this isn't it .Please refer to varietyvistacom. Looks like machine doubling to me .

Ok I'm going to research machine doubling.

Is it possible to find a coin that isn't listed on a website or that anyone has ever seen before? Or are there usually quite a few of the same error in the same coin?

Just some clarification.
On a double die you would see 2 of the letters?
Machine doubling would be just part of a letter has almost like a little ledge on the edge of a letter?
