Did I just buy a re-plated 1943-S?

As I have leanered from this great forum and Daniels videos, many steel cents have been re-plated.

I have learned that many I have are indeed re-plated.

So I went out and bought an ANACS certified 1943-S MS-65

But as I look at the date, I see a very slight "shadow" S, and bit of extra 4. Sort of like the coin I posted another thread on that was voted as re-plated.

So did I just buy a replated 1943-S? ( please see photo's )

It did not look too "blueish" in the store, but...............

ps the scratch near the "S" is on the holder

Nice coin! 👍🏻 Why would you think it was a re-plated coin if it was in a legitimate TPG'er holder. Did you think the holder was tampered with?

I thought it may have been replated due to another post I sent on the forum regarding what I thought was a DDO 1943 S cent. The feedback came back that it was a plating error and not a DD.

I will be posting a new post regarding steel cents.

Stay tuned
