Hi! I would really like some advice. I'm a long-time (i.e., old in duration and in age) coin collector, interested in US, Canadian and British coins. I'm want to sell my Canadian Large Cents collection - about 100 coins, most are mint state (but the rarer varieties are XF to AU, with a few VF) but not certified, I have most varieties. My most valuable coin - by far - is a Canadian pattern I about 10 bought years ago. It is a 1876-H pattern DC-1 (in the Charlton catalog). It's graded PCGS SP-66 RED and I believe is the finest known. The catalog value is CDN $40,000 - $50,000 for SP 63 to 65. I live in the US far from the Canadian border, and the dealer who I bought the coin through is deceased. I'm wondering the best way to sell this: auction (Heritage, Stacks-Bowers, a Canadian company, other auction company) or direct sale to a dealer? I'd appreciate any advice or dealer/company recommendations for selling this for the best net price. It's complicated because this is a Canadian coin, not a US coin. (I also have an 1876 no H large cent DC-18 uncertified that I'd grade SP-63 Brown, but I'm not an expert grader).
I'll appreciate any help.
Larry

Welcome, Larry! Heritage Auctions sells a fair amount of non-US coins and that's where I would sell it. Selling direct to a dealer, depending on who it is, might pay less or possibly more than it would go for on HA.

Great Collections. Their fees are much lower than Heritage, and they have quite an audience of bidders.
