New error….maybe

#1 Unread post by Savage808 »

I found this dime in my change. Any help to ID if it’s unique or not and is there any value. I know there aren’t many dime errors but this one looks legit. I thought maybe this was done with a hammer but upon closer inspection, its kinda missing a couple things. The 1 in the date is semi missing and so is the 9, but there is a double tail at the bottom where the 9 should be. Also, the 6 and 7 looks like it could have gotten double stamped 🤷🏽 Or maybe some dirt got in the die lol. The double tail where the 9 should be is the most interesting. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks

I figured. Any thoughts on the double tail on the 9? That part was untouched/damaged.

The 9 took a hit which moved the metal of its loop into that area. This happens a lot on coins.
