1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Shiny (But are they cleaned)?
I decided to invest in some coins I could look at while they hopefully appreciate in value. My basic question is if these coins have been cleaned? And I really wonder what restoration is? I watched a video earlier that potentially saved me hundreds of dollars, so I win either way.
Thanks a bunch and happy collecting!

Hey, really nice Coins ! Can you post them the correct way next time ? Also, don't forget people to Crop and enlarge to maybe 500x500 is sufficient . I use programs called PhotoScape ( DL ) and LunaPic ( NO DL ) . Both are excellent !!

Ohh, I forgot to comment on the cleaning question . I think the Peace Dollar looks Okay but the Lafayette looks cleaned a bit . See the tiny scratches on the surface ? THE ONLY thing that I have heard by many to restore coins is Distilled Water and Pure 100% Acetone . There are certain guideline to using though . Let me know if your interested . I have never used the stuff because of my lungs but I hear if works great .JMO from research .

Thank you for your great eye (even with my shoddy pictures)! I would never attempt restoring myself, I planned to pay the graders. But now I don't need to. And your pictures look great! Stay safe and well!

I don't blame you for getting coins conserved by a TPG but I think your Coins are fine , no need for restoring in my own opinion .

Re: Shiny (But are they cleaned)?
Hey W, coins on a Crown Royal Bag, classy. The peace dollar looks good, the Lafayette is questionable, man I wish you could get better pics, I would be willing to do a mark up to show you what I mean. I don't use any special photo equipment, let me tell you about my setup. Samsung Note 10 sitting on an ANACS box, the coins are laying on a black Cadillac Microfiber Screen Cloth from a 2018 Escalade, the lighting is a desktop reading light with a 6000 k led bulb and I use windows PaintBrush to get the photos ready to post, although I have GIMP at my disposal, Paint is fine. Anyway hope this helps. As far as preservation/conservation, not worth the money in my opinion, it will not move you to the next grade or add any value to the coin "in general"

The Lafayette dollar is suspect... The peace dollar looks fine but it would really help to have better pictures...

One coin per topic so we can examine each coin better, plus it is less confusing. Thanks
