Correction , you have a 1943D not 1943 , slightly more value . My research say's we are looking at maybe a couple dollars at best due to damage on the rim .

Just a few cents, it is damaged and looks replated.

Hey C and welcome. It takes a very special Steelie (Steelie is a Numismatical term 😊) to have significant value. Also it does appear to be either plated of well polished, if so, not worth much because it was altered.

I have two of these yes one had a D and the other had no mint mark and they have been stored away for years so I'm not sure about the replating

I agree with Sal, the polish or plating is not the biggest issue, the rim damage is. I don't know about your other one, but this one really is not worth that much, it is cool being steel, and the history behind it, but that is about it. Now if you find a 1943 Copper, well 'Paaaaarrrtay" 🤑

My other one looks just like this one but no mint mark and doesn't have the ding on the side
As for replating I'm not sure about that all I know is my grandfather put them away way back when with other coins

I do not know when plating them started, but people like shiny things and the 1943s in circulation turned dark after not much time. I know in the 60s national bank chain in my area was giving out a "coins of yesteryear" set for people opening an account.
The set had a highly polished Walking Liberty Half, Washington quarter, and dime and also included a plated war nickel and plated 1943 cent. So some of the plated ones are pretty old also.
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):
