1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Ring selfie light for coin photos ... it works!
I watched this vid last week. Got on ebay and ordered a inexpensive version of the light (charges from USB - 3 brightness settings). Mine was 3.99, but I see the auction now says 4.99 and free shipping - so do some searching on eBay:
Copy and paste the following number into the ebay search bar:
184565086220 So what are the results?
Time involved:
Clip ring light onto my old iPhone 42.
Put 1938 WL onto white paper.
Rest iPhone on top of overturned coffee mug I had handy.
Snap pic.
Crop pic square.
Make post: A newer iPhone would probably make this amazing.

I watched the same video and bought the same selfie ring and the 4" tubing he suggested - still playing with it, but works amazing w/my iPhone 12, so far (just placed it over my type set):

Nice pics. I am thinking when I try something shiny I will try the lowest light setting on mine or else use tissue to diffuse. Man this is so easy compared to what I used to have to do back in 2011 when I got back into coins seriously.

Re: Ring selfie light for coin photos ... it works!
That's exactly what I did - I took some printer paper and cut out a circle to put over the light ring - definitely helped, as my 1st attempts were causing the images to be way too bright.
Cheers.
