Sharing,1971-S proof set that is unopened with the penny showing some DDO or die damage, nothing going on with the reverse side just Lincolns entire head area and neck, you can also see cuts in multiple areas,I would guess it was caused by the die....love to read your thoughts on this coin.
1. The eye is not completed, just a lump.
2. The mouth is double on the nose I think?
3. The chin area looks to have been struck so many times it's amazing.
4. From the chin running up the side of his cheek area there is compression lines and cuts in certain areas.
5. The ear is deformed.
6. Now back down to his neck area and bow tie, not sure if Doubling or damage from the die.
See if you can add to the list......
Sorry if the lighting is bad,so hard to take picture with Clair from the plastic coin case and scratches on it also.

You're first order of business should be to look up another example and compare to your coin. Also look up varieties at Wexler's doubled die or CONECA variety Vista. What I see in these images you're picking apart minor variances from die deterioration and maybe some die lines, but not anything major nor a variety. I would stick with looking for the doubled die for this year since that is where the money is.
