1986 d Zincoln Wrong planchet

#1 Unread post by Rafmal »

good day guys , i trust all is well. Great.
i found this 86 d and it looked very damaged. a closer look , and i could see that the rim had flattened sides. so i queried it on coin talk , and everyone out there Dismissed this as being a Damaged coin. it weighs 2,5g , which is normal. and i could not find a coin to match , until i purchased some Canadian coins and got lucky, i found that in the 80s Canadian 1 cent coins had a 20 side flattened rim . so i matched it to the Lincoln.
guess what?
another thing is that the US mint made foreign coins in 1984 . so this is definitely a Wrong planchet Error coin
well you be the judge of that. lets hear you'll thoughts.

Well lemme see, hmmmmm. Somebody did some research and found out that the US mint made foreign coins "Canadian" in the 80's, then they got a Canadian cent from the 80's, and a US cent from the 80's. They then proceeded to "spoon" the US cent to get the raised edge of the Canadian cent. All this to try to fake a wrong planchet error. Oh yeah, the Canadian looks "spooned" also. Now I wonder what the motive would be, oh yeah, greed.

Soooooo, it's a

come to think of it . one has to look at the coin personally and physically . in order to appreciate that just maybe , once again the US mint messed up. going down in history of the US mints , there has been Lots of mess-ups. so the possibility is there. guess the best way to find out is , definitely not from you @ coin mule. there's a song by
Patty Loveless i think maybe you should take a listen too. cool

i taught we were all collectors , because we love our hobby, we do it for the pleasure it brings us, i expected that from you guys , but all i am is saddened . by the taught that the passion is no longer there, it is the attitude an arrogance that comes when a person thinks he or she knows it all . never wanting to have an open mind . thanks but no thanks

Hey R, it's not arrogance, it's just having some fun. If you cannot see that the edges are almost octagonal, and even the Canadian coin edges look "wrong" then oh well. Now, you have been to two sites, and both have told you the same thing, so for the sake of not drifting into the "nobody is right and nobody is wrong, and everybody gets a trophy, and everyone's opinion is valid" culture, I humbly suggest you get off of your wallet, send it in to ANACS, NGC, or PCGS. Then when it comes back in a slab, you have huge bragging rights, and Sal and I look like idiots.

If I put an image of a coin up, and said "look at this VAM, and Paul tells me "it's not, it is missing X marker", do you think I am going to argue with him? I know I am not Paul or Daniel, and I am basically starting out in the business side, not even a year yet, but seriously, even I can see the damage and fakery. If Paul or Daniel show up on this thread, it is my guess you will get the now famous one word answer, "Damage".

By the way I don't hate you, or wish you any ill will, and if you find my humor objectionable, put me on ignore, you are not the first or will you be the last. But remember my motto, "If it does not affect my family or bottom line, I don't care"

Oh yeah look at this link

The US minted coins for over 40 different nations between 1875 and 1984.

Canada – Some were minted in 1969 but dated 1968

10 Cents (1968) – Some were also minted in Ottawa
