2003 quarter with the copper showing on the reverse side

#1 Unread post by cterry »

Can anyone tell me if the copper is showing on the reverse side of the 2003 quarter is an error? There's just a little showing on the front. New and still learning.

Thank you
cterry

I'm sorry for the misinformation earlier. I was looking at a lot of coins that night. I've attached the pictures of a 2003 nickel that appears to be struck on copper. The quarter is the year 2000, with what appears to have faint writing across Washington's neck and lower jaw. Let me know what your thoughts are. Very much appreciated.

The coins are damaged so not an error, also we prefer one coin per topic. Thanks

Hey C, Post Mind Damage, means someone beat it up after it left the mint. Also make your searching more efficient use this link http://doubleddie.com/

So let me give you a little outline.

1. Separate the coins into type, date, mintmark

2. Then open http://doubleddie.com/, and check you stuff against the lists there
a. A Note on this is that "usually" there is not just one marker to I.D. the variety, so you have
to have all of them, not just one. This is the mistake that many make, they see what they
think is a double die and it is really a Machine Double.
