As I am new to collecting

#1 Unread post by deepseadiver57 »

Hi everyone! I am fairly new to coin collecting and I know just enough to get me in trouble. I have to date silver eagles X 2 all NGC MS69 except the 2020's I bought at MS70. I also have the SE set book with ungraded coins to 2007. I have the 1995W MS69 and the 2019-S Enhanced reverse x2 both graded MS70 and ungraded. Now I'm trying to improve my collection, I am having trouble understanding the Burnished, FDI, FS, bullion, or proofs/cameo, value differences. To build and achieve long term value, which is the most desirable of these finished strikes to purchase? These are for my 2 grandchildren in the future, so I want them to worth something 15-20 years. Thanks for your help!

Use PCGS price guide to see which Silver Eagles are worth more than the other.

:welcome:

I agree with Daniel here,....... but I also crosscheck price values listed at other TPG's.

Nomenclature is a huge stumbling block for novice collectors. If you are considering to do this in a serious manner, I would become familiar with all of the acronyms, surface finishes, and types of strikes that are produced by the mint.

It appears from your initial post that this will be a 15 to 20 year term investment for you. If you are proficient at surfing the Internet, you can research this in detail. I wish I could point to a specific website, but there are so many different ones out there with charts and graphs showing you your ROI, all you need to do is choose the one that you prefer most.
