Hello All, I'm new here...

#1 Unread post by donavon77 »

Hello Coin Community,
I'm new here and my name is Donavon...
I've been collecting coins for quite a while and always keep an eye out for strange and interesting coins. I went to Kroger yesterday here in Atlanta and found a really interesting penny in my change. I made a post about it here: https://coinauctionshelp.com/forum/view ... 70&t=17747
But will post pics of it here also... Any info or help from y'all would be much appreciated...
Thanks and happy hunting,
:)

Thanks for the welcome and response! I'm just wondering if it was road rash, would it be on both sides and the lettering be bubbled and not scratched?
If you zoom in, you can see the tiny letters are still there by the left side of the banner over the shield. Also, the T and R in trust look a bit odd...

If you find a strange coin in change then it is damaged. Look for doubled dies not strange coins.

It appears this cent had a serious talk with Mr. Wire Wheel or Mr. Dremel. The copper plating was forcibly scratched of/removed/worn/wire brushed off in that area. Note the parallel marks even digging down into the rim..
