Coin roll 50 cent crazy ender

#1 Unread post by ccharin »

Hey guys I only collect silver and went to PNC Bank today to get my very first $500 halves roll box to search. Came across this ender and was wondering what kind of coin this is? Should I keep the coin roll sealed and sell it on Ebay for fun or should I open it?

I believe this is an old large cent from Britain (1837-1901). These pennies are the perfect size of a half dollar.
Date is on the REV, but likely a common date and maybe worth 1.00-1.50. Although you might find one at a coin show in a typical foreign coin box for .25.
Most of these sold on eBay are planted coins to make people interested and to hopefully sucker someone into paying a lot of money thinking the roll is full of rare coins.

I just got the sealed box from my local PNC bank branch today here in Glen Ellyn IL. I would be the seller but now that the coin is not worth that much I will just unwrap it. I did not find any silver in the entire $500 box and just thought it was very strange that it was an ender. Was my first time trying this and I thought I would give it a shot. Thank you so much for your replies.

BTW - I was told by my bank they they appreciate people letting them know when there is something in a roll that is not a US half dollar. I found New Zealand pennies, Panama 50 Balboas, Brit pennies, and various tokens.

Cool find; anything else in the roll?
