1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Survived a bit of torture. NEED ANSWERS
The same old song, DO NOT CLEAN YO COINS!!! i have done the most and possibly the worst thing you can do to a coin. The curiosity possibly cost me a fortune, Or possibly not, who knows. It did survive the torture though!!! and that is why i am posting this. Im trying to make sense out of this cent. It is a 1926 Buffalo Nickel minted in Philadelphia that has a “bloody blazes” look to it.. its not wax, its not paint. I NEED ANSWERS?
Your time is much appreciated, and i am forever in your debt.

Re: Survived a bit of torture. NEED ANSWERS
I have the perfect answer , You 5 Cent Buffalo Nickel has been living underground for a long time and has gained quite a bit of "patina" and that "rusty"look is caused by the "elements" of acid rain, dirt and minerals in the ground .
Now , I don't usually recommend cleaning coins but if it's a "Dug"(metal detected ) coin and it's a junk year then why not . Nickels are difficult to clean the traditional way as seen in this short video clip . As A Metal Detectorist, I have tried everything to clean my buffalo and Liberty Nickels with no success . This might help in saving your Nickels but be very careful what years you try it on first .

Hey Sal, I like it, salvaging a coin like that is cool. One question I do have has to do with the Nike sock, is it clean or used just after finishing a Triathlon?

Re: Survived a bit of torture. NEED ANSWERS
It looked like someone coat the coin in wax like perfectly all around .. like i said i really thought it was wax and tried to remove it.. and i pretty much screwed myself.. its been in a original money bag at the bank for a very long time .. no other coin in the bag was anything like it.
Your time is much appreciated, and i am forever in your debt.
