1970 D Washington quarter. What do I have?

#1 Unread post by invent1776 »

Hi, Jim UN Jayhawker 311.
I'm a semi retired engineer. Got into coins as a diversion about 4 years ago. Wow! When I picture all the great condition Franklins, Standing liberty quarters, Mercury dimes and so on that passed through my hands as a newspaper boy back in the 50's, I can only shake my head now.
So trying to see if any coins I have are worth anything. Hope I didn't give unneeded info. If so, would someone please tell.
Thanks for all the help and comments it advance.

OK, I'm pretty sure I have a die break but how do I describe it?
The lettering is thick so is it a ddo? RPM?
Lastly, any value range?

I see a scratch and when a coin is scratched the metal has to go somewhere. Die cracks and such are very common and no added value. I do not see any variety, as in doubled die, for this coin.

As has been said, this is damage. Study some pictures online of die breaks and you will see the difference.
