Introduce Yourself Patrick

#1 Unread post by wilkinsp21 »

Hello everyone,
My Name is Patrick and about 2-3 months ago I dug out my grandfathers old collection and mine when I was a kid and starting getting into the hobby more and collecting.
I found Daniel online store and been purchasing new things to collect. Watching his you tub videos and learning all I can about the hobby.
My Grandfather and father got me into collecting when I was a kid and I had some things over the years, nothing too great. But after my grandfather passed and I inherited his collection I did the stupid thing. I saw dollar signs and not looking at the collection first. so no telling what all I sold without knowing, I didn't sale everything and now I am going back and learning about it all.
By Collecting I feel I am connecting with him again so this has been a great time for me.
Thank you,
Patrick

Let me tell you the stupid I did,
1. bags of wheat/Indian head pennies, I didn't know what to do with them all. All still in old bag bags tied off, I took to bank and cashed in, close to $1,0000 in pennies.
2. I had a few "slicks" and I didn't understand the market and spot/melt; so I took 50 or so coins, all types to a pawn show and only got 35% of spot/melt at the time
3. 2 Silver raw bars 10 lbs, sold cause I didn't know what to do with them
4. and finally he had a book of coins all in the plastic, few where almost melted to it, and a lot where very ugly and barely tell what they where, I did keep 2, the two I kept where Seating Liberty Dollars, now this book had other types of dollars, and half dollars, I think a trade dollar and some flying eagle pennies as well, but not 100%; either way I didn't take the time to look it over and just sold the book minus the 2 coins.
Thank you,
Patrick

Welcome, Patrick! And don't feel bad about the 'stupid' stuff. Every one of us has stories like this and then some.
