1880 S Morgan Dollar - doubling on the bottom of date

#1 Unread post by josephcolorado »

I watched the video on machine doubling vs double dye. I still am not 100% sure what I am looking at. This photo is of a 1880 S Morgan Dollar. Does anyone know what this is at the bottom of the date, as well as the first star to the left. This coin is very reflective and I am having trouble determining what this is. Any input would be very welcome. Thank you.

Thank you, very much for looking at my coin. I do apologize. What does that mean, specifically, that my coin is "original"? Again, I apologize. Being new to this, I am still very much learning. I appreciate your help, very much.

Nice coin but not a doubled die, if you look closely under the digits, in the area in question, you will see cold flow lines. It's a form of die deterioration.
