The Condition of the Nickel is making this hard to tell if this is the 3 1/2 Legged Error, you do have the right year & Mint for this variety.

Acetone removes the foreign stuff on it without altering the Coin Surface itself, have a 30 Second soak in the Acetone if you have one.

B/c the pics are a bit hard to see, and you have it in hand, try comparing images online with a search of "3 1/2 leg 1936 D."

Another thing to note is the missing leg buffalos, though highly collectable, are not really mint errors. The missing portion is from the die being polished too harshly. The 37-D was made popular years ago and so when the 36-D was discovered, it also became sought after.

Sorry but I am 99% confident that this is not a 3 1/2 leg Buffalo. Going on what I can see in the photo. I could be wrong but I don't see it.

That is a epic find for a Nickel Roll, I got 2 Nickels Rolls yesterday, but the only thing that was Pre-1960 was a 1957-D.
