Hey guys, I have a 1951 P quarter with what I believe to be due cracks but am unsure. If they are die cracks does that make the coin of more value or make it any sort of variety?
Also if anyone has any info on how and why they occur I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks!
Die cracks??

Re: Die cracks??
Die cracks don't add value to quarters or most coins for that matter and these are cracks in the die and the planchet metal filled them in. In turn they created these thin and raised areas on the coin. Go to error-ref.com and read about die cracks.

If you go to error-ref.com and search "die crack," you will find all you wanted to know about them.
As to adding value, very few do b/c its a common occurrence. A major one would be valued more.
