1915 Wheat Penny Major Error or Not

#1 Unread post by bigtex42 »

Found this in a Bank roll dated 2/18/57 my birthday. I had them a while and was going to keep them in roll decided that
was no fun and opened them. Newest penny date was 1956 unc. I do not know if it is a error or if it was used as a tool.
Thank you for your time.

I agree. Nothing in the minting process would do this.
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):

looks like it was for a science experiment either intended or unintended as it looks like it was damaged or a chemical was added to give it that discoloration might have been in a fire
