1956 p wheat

#1 Unread post by shoell1 »

Im new to all this stuff and have been learning here and there. I know about the die movement during a strike will cause streaks. on this coin I can see raised marks with the streaks. I ended up with a whole role that looks the same with all the markings. I have about 10 that are the same with streaks and lines in the lettering?

Thank you. I just am try to get opinions of these coins. I have looked for errors for the 56 P but only found things for the Proof and things about eye doubling. I just got 50 of these coins from a roll and are all in really great shape.
Are these worth getting graded or new discoveries?

Please post only one coin per topic so that there is no confusion on which coin is being talked about. You should start over and start a new topic for each coin.

Please be advised that the general rule for posting coins is one coin per-topic. You do not need to post a coin to be compared, as those who are giving their opinion know what the coin should or should not look like.

No.

Please view Daniel's videos on whether or not a coin should be graded. Very few qualify and a lot of people end with coins not worth the cost of the fees to encapsulate them.

Please understand and do some homework also on the market hype of these companies vs. reality. They do not examine coins and determine/attribute errors or varieties. They only grade[/grade], unless paid and asked to put a variety attribution on the label. Which they may do...and many times they are wrong (proof in the pdf in my signature)!
...I can see raised marks with the streaks.

If you mean like in the photo of showing "RICA," this looks to me, in the picture, to be marks made by typical die deterioration.

If you are talking about the darker streaks of color, for example in your pic showing "STATES / ERICA," this appears to be an area where coloring of the different metals in the allow is showing. With it being this small, its not uncommon and its not of an extra value. When a coin is extreme showing this, its can be worth a bit more. Look up "woody cent."
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):

As to posting more than one coin. This is typically what we ask b/c people post multiple coins with multiple questions about them in a single thread. It makes it very difficult for us to then explain which of our answers goes with which coin. I will admit since you were just asking about the streaking being the same on multiple coins, I can see why you posted more than one - makes a lot of sense to me, But that is up to Daniel.
