Class 1 doubled dies on newer coins

#1 Unread post by Coinaddict411 »

Is it correct that its basically impossible for there to be class 1 doubling during single squeeze hubbings? The only way a die can be doubled is if there is a shift during the single squeeze which would be considered class 8 or 9??

CONECA website has a full description of the 9 classes of doubled dies. I would study that info.

Ok after reading and re reading I think I'm getting it somewhat. Do you know of any videos of dies or working hubs being made? From going through variety vista I'm only seeing class 2 6 and 9 and occasional hybrids like cash 2+6

Here a few short videos from the US mint called "Then and Now" about making Dies.

Then and Now Part 1
Then and Now Part 2
Then and Now Part III
Then and Now Part IV Pennies
B Roll Pennies
Hub & Die B roll
Wexlers Die Making Write Up

These are just a few I found online. The US mint videos are only about 2 minutes long. The write up on Wexlers page it goes in-depth on making dies.
