2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. ? Jigsaw penny ? 1940-S what am I looking at?
So recently discovered there is a coin shop in town. sort of. I drove straight there once i herd. Its part coin shop part parrot rescue. no joke. and I love it. the family who runs jointly under one space. anyways found this. and got it cuz well never seen or herd of such thing. even though i consider myself a newbie. still strange as blazes. he mentioned sum thing bout the die striking to hard. anyone have an idea. the cracks seem introverted not extroverted as you'd seen in die cracks. plus sum of them extend onto the collar/rim. the last picture is the flip he had it in...that's how was labeled but haven't found zip info. on such a thing?
thanks all

I agree with Paul here. Run and don't go back. I would try and return it or write off as a lesson learned.

I agree with PAUL. No matter how hard the die strikes a planchet it can't shatter or crack it like this and if the die was like this then it would be raised on the coin. It's just an interesting but damaged coin.

I agree with all of the above. Especially the part about not going back (after you get a refund). While I am NOT saying the dealer is trying to scam people, it is obvious that at the very least they have no idea what they are doing. Another possibility on this one is people used to varnish their coins to preserve them. Varnish can crack in this kind of pattern over time. Maybe that is what you have??
