Hi Daniel, you may not be able to tell from the picture but it's a raised line and part of the coin. You can feel it.

It can be discouraging when what you think you have gets quickly shot down. I can take the feedback but in this case I think you would have to feel the coin. The thicker line coming out of the back of Lincoln's head is a raised line that can be felt and is a part of the coin. What does this mean? Unfortunately only one person here has considered it as anything but a scratch and I still don't know what that means if it isn't.

@Kblachere...Please do not be discouraged. People here truly want to help, but more importantly, they'd like you to educate yourself about the hobby.
As you know, sometimes pictures make it difficult to identify certain things. In this case, your images clearly appear as a scratch. However, you now stated the scratch is raised, perhaps this information would have been helpful to begin with to better assist with identifying.
IF the mark is raised, then it is possible the die made it. However, I am not an expert.
Question though...Does the raised mark continue through Lincoln out the forehead hairline and between the U and S? It is tough to tell through the image.

This forum/ platform is simply a place to congregate with others who share the interest and for helpful feedback however just as any other resource available online, it is limited. People can only get a feel for things and nothing concrete out of a mere picture sometimes. If you feel strongly about having something unique it may be best to swing by a coin shop and have someone take a look. It will ease your curiosity and fully answer your question. How long have you been learning about the minting process and or coin searching?

If you have ever used a ditch witch then you know that it cuts into the earth and the dirt has to go somewhere and that is on both sides of the ditch. If I was a giant and ran my fingers over the ditch I would feel a raised feature. What you can't ignore though is the ditch in between the raised lines.
I guarantee you 100% this is a scratch, and in this community we don't keep topics going and debating over damaged coins so this topic is locked. If you don't agree it is not a scratch then take it to a coin dealer or submit it under the mint error tier at a grading company. I will bet my pay check this is a scratch on your coin.
