1982 small date?

#1 Unread post by Gyphted »

I know it's in really rough condition, but I'm pretty sure I finally found a small date that weighs 3.1. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for all your time and help. If I am right... in this condition is it still worth anything? If it is... what's your guess as to value?

It's a large date, the 8 is looking bigger & the date is thicker . . .

Comparison from Coinweek.com . . .

I was just posting an informative graphic which makes it clear how to determine the two from each other o normal coins. Once I saw the Loch Ness Large concept, I never forgot it and made the graphics to share with others.

Seeing as the entire date on yours has taken hits, its problematic to be be sure. I see a curve (but by the major hit that could have caused it) on the 2 that makes it looked like the small 2. However, the inside of the upper curve of the 2 looks as if it could be Nessy. The eight has taken a hit to the bottom loop making it difficult to compare the the upper loop.

If I had to guess, b/c of all of the above, I would guess at being a large date.
