1982-d small date

#1 Unread post by ofer1976 »

Hi everybody,
Where can I sell this coin ? does it worth anything ?
I know few years back it was sold for almost $19000' I wonder how much can I get for it today ?
Any clue ?
Attached a photo of the coin and another photo of the same 1982d coin next to "common" 1982d coins for comparison.
Appreciate the help.

Why do you think it is a valuable coin? Have you weighed it? If so what is the weight? Before you come all out, and say this cent is worth a bunch of money, you should be able to say exactly why you think it is valuable.

He's been thinking about the very rare 1982-D/1982 Transitional Penny . . .

Copper weight, Zinc style dies the Transitional coins, but since they are so similar to the normal circulation strikes, they are hard to find, & the reason why they are so desired, is because of the crazy value they can contain . . .

Well he has not stuck it rich yet. The 1982 D small date Bronze (3.11 gr) is not the one he wants. The 1982 D large date bronze is what he needs if I remember correctly.

Small date bronze red in highest grade 68 (2 known) according PCGS is 4250.00
I don’t believe any of the coins you posted would come close to that grade.

As I stated in my last post. You have a 1982 D Bronze SMALL date. What you are looking for is the 1982 D Bronze LARGE date. You have to remember that the 1982 transitional cents have seven (7) types which are considered normal and unless they are graded at least MS-66+ they are really not worth much. The 1982 Bronze large date (3.11 grams), 1982 Bronze Small Date (3.11 grams), , 1982 zinc Large date (2.50 grams), 1982 zinc Small date (2.50 grams), 1982D Bronze Small date (3.11 grams), 1982D zinc Large date (2.50 grams) and 1982D zinc Small date (2.50 grams). That is the difference. You have the 1982D Bronze small date with 3 grams which is well with in the tolerance of the 3.11 grams.

Can you please provide a link or reference where a 82 D large date is worth more than an 82 bronze small date (no mint mark). PCGS price guide doesn’t even show an 82 D bronze variety.
Thanks!

It is the 1982 D SMALL date on a 3.1 gram planchet that is worth the money and only two are known.
