1983 NO FG???

#1 Unread post by DSCoins »

I have a 1983 cent that may or may not have a possible no FG on it. The coin it self is not in that bad of shape and it may be between red/red brown with some environmental damage on it (not around where the FG would be found). On the Reverse it is plainly obvious that the FG is missing with no sign of being there. Also the is no damage of any kind in or around where the FG would be located. Any options on this would be great. Sorry Paul if the images are to blurry, they are the best I can do with equipment I have.

Thanks as always any options or comments are welcome.

........ possible die plugging? ......... remember that these are very very tiny shallow devices, I would need to see the coin firsthand, and determine the die stage Ist.

There's no way to give an 100% accurate answer with the images posted

Until a coin is graded NO FG then no one can be sure, also if the date and mint isn't known for this then it's going to be called "struck with a filled die".

After further investigation I have been able to see a FG but only at one angle. As such this can not be called a No FG as stated.
