1919 wheat penny

Need help I have a 1919 wheat penny that weighs 2.73 g I know it’s worn but I don’t think it would Make that Big of a difference.

Sure it can if its worn enough plus there must be some variations in the weight although it should be 3 g , no ? 2.5g for modern Pennies

@Sal - 1919's weighed in at 3.11 Grams. Wear would explain at least some of the weight loss; but I would make sure the scale is properly calibrated. That's been my undoing multiple times.

Coins can be struck on extra thin planchets but unless they're mint state it's not worth pursuing. You want a coin that is problem free, uncirculated and weighs exactly what another coin would weigh. if you think it's struck on a foreign planchet. This coin is not.
