1962 D Washington Quarter Possible DD

#1 Unread post by Aaugust14 »

I received this quarter as change and was looking through the list of all the different errors of the 1962 D Quarter (quite a few!)
I am by no means an expert but looking at the back especially it looks as though there is quite a bit of doubling in The leaves and the mint mark also appears to have a longer line extending above it, as though it is a D punched over a D? :dunno

It's not a doubled die coin is circulated and damaged and this is why you didn't find a match.

As I said before I am not an expert so I have circled the areas I was questioning. I thought it looked like the wing had a second impression, along with the tail feathers and leaves? I was just wondering how this happened? You are much more knowledgeable than I and I know you have explanations! I appreciate you taking your time and thank you for your time and thoughts!

Looking got tiny anomalies like this is a futile effort in frustration since they can be clash marks, contact marks or circulation causes and toning. No mint errors are bringing money for stuff like this even if it was some strange error. I suggest looking for doubled dies and such.
