1998 possible doubled

#1 Unread post by DSCoins »

While searching my 1998's I ran into a what appears to be either a class 9 doubling or a vary strange place to have cud or die chip (oh, and yes I checked to if it was a plating bubble). What may be class 9 doubling on the right side of column 6 around the left side of the statue, continuing up to the shoulder. The closest match (not an exact match) I can find, was on Copper Coins.1998P-1DR-008 or 1998P-1DR-010. The photos I am posting are not the best. I am hopping to have my camera station set up soon.

Did you match it with one on coppercoins? There's several doubled dies on the columns, also cuds are on the rim only.

I do not think this is class IX doubling here........
I would need to see it in hand,.....
I do see a tiny "Die Chip" on the inside of column 6 next to Lincoln.

Daniel, I searched all the sites I know (Copper Coins, Wexler's...Error-Ref, Lincoln Cent Resource and Variety Vista). Yes I forgot about the cud being on the rim only. :w Giving what they have listed, the closets I could find, was on Copper Coins listings of 1998P-1DR-008 or 1998P-1DR-010. I also could not find a 100% match.

Paul, I did mention it could be a possible Die Chip. In that respect it is very convent and or suspect in it's location.

Daniel and Paul, with all the doubling being reported and cataloged from the right side of column 6 to different aria's on the left of the statue, What are the possibilities that one of the column 6 doublings actually broke, forming this Die Chip?

As soon as I can get my camera station up and running, I should be able to post higher resolution photo's. Instead of 2 mg, I will be able to shoot 10 mg
