76 half dollar double die or machine doubling?

#1 Unread post by Canonoch »

Found a nice Bicentennial half dollar. The words "STATES OF" on the reverse show doubling of the letters. I took the best pictures i could with my phone. Just wondering if this is a double die or from machine doubling.

I plan on getting a USB microscope in a few weeks should provide better images then.

Thanks, I got really excited but the more I looked at it the additional lettering seemed flat not raised like the die stamping is. But still an interesting piece for me.
