1986 Silver Eagle Die Errors ?
I would like some opinions on what I found on my 1986 Silver Eagle.....Also do these two issues i found in the pictures add any more value to this coin..Both finds are on the reverse of coin....I am fairly new to coin errors so please bare with me...I appreciate any thoughts!
Re: 1986 Silver Eagle Die Errors ?
The coin could have taken a hit (at the mint) after it was struck......it happens... Or maybe a minor struck thru something?? The other looks like a rim burr. No value added in my opinion.
By the way: OUTSTANDING pictures!!

Hey D, yeah I agree with US on this. But you finding that burr, is really cool, what are the chances that thing hung on since the mint. (que Paul "naaah no big deal, I have about a thousand of those, and I know a guy .........)

Nice pictures but minor strike "thu's" are commonplace and add no extra value.

Hey Paul, I was alluding to your extensive and illustrious knowledge and high end connections in the Numismatic Community. What might be cool and interesting to us pleebs, are commonplace to those with experience. I should have use the (sarc)
Also, looking at the last Pic, I believe I see the impact area where the rim got damaged and the sliver got ripped off.

Re: 1986 Silver Eagle Die Errors ?
I should have asked an obvious question. What's the history of this coin? Where did you get it? Did it come directly from the mint? Was the coin purchased in original packaging?

I Do agree about the substance in the chip on rev...to me under very close magnification it looks like a plastic like substance..
I purchased coin from a seller on another coin site and it came from Ampex Coins.
Thankyou to all that commented on my coin and pics plus opinions/facts on the defects on reverse...Very informative..Learning every day !!
